In 1970 he was appointed the head of the ceramic mold foundry and fitting shop; that translates today as the “Chief Designer.” Manfred is also a well known sculptor and his works are displayed in private and public collections. He continues to make molds and works of art. Pieces that have an incised M. Frey were molds poured at Kaiser but are the property of the artist. His earlier works only have the AK Kaiser stamps on them. A list of his work, Catalog, complied by Treffpunkt Kunst, an independent private research publication, lists this mold number as a work by Manfred Frey. His vintage designs are highly sought after on the secondary market making this a real find for collectors of MCM. Mold number 668. And is signed with and impressed signature “M Frey.” It has a stamped mark from A K Kaiser and a foil sticker AK Exclusive. The stamp on the bottom denotes W. Germany as the place of origin. Germany was divided from East from West from 1946 until 1989. So this was made between those years. The aesthetic appears to be 80s Art Deco Revival, but I am not an expert. The exterior is not glazed and retains it matte bisque fired surface. The interior of the vase has been glazed with a clear gloss making it water tight. Please look at all the pictures.
