We have the experience and care to pack these large pieces. Here is a large Japanese classic translucent red enamel (akasuke) vase of 3 stylized roses. The metal foundation is lightly incised horizontally, creating a shimmering contrast to the white enameled flowers. The vase is finished in a deep rich translucent red enameled ground in high polish and is in excellent vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restorations. The rim of the bottom base is marked “jun gin,” meaning pure silver. The center of the base is marked with the Ando workshop trademark. Specialists generally agree that vases mounted in silver are consistently of the highest quality and may indicate a special order or commissioned work. The percentage of works fitted with silver rims is estimated at less than 7.% of all pieces. The height of this unusually shaped vase is approximately 9.0 inches The width of the vase is approximately 6.5 inches at the midpoint Overall, a fine vase in pristine condition with a very strong sense of design. This exact vase is illustrated and described on page 132 in Chapter 16, “Yusen-Jippo; Standard wire cloisonne enamel,” in the reference book “Japanese Cloisonne Enamel; A Private Collector’s Notes and Reference Guide,” by Gary Yoshino. The successful buyer of this vase will be provided a copy of page 132. This vase is quite heavy and robust; we request that the buyer help in offsetting some of the USPS Priority Mail cost. The vase will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care. This vase will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail with insurance to confirmed addresses within the United States. We currently cannot ship overseas or make international deliveries at this time due to sheer size and weight of this vase.
