Chances are you already know about the iconic Omega Speedmaster “Moonwatch” but the moonphase takes the spirit of exploration a step further, featuring detail enriched and photo-realistic moons that cycle through the month showing you the current phase of the moon as you see it in the sky. As our moon passes across the sky, the miniature version in the watch also travels around, displayed in an aperture on the dial. This watch, or any moonphase watch, is perhaps the most elemental in its graphical representation of the passage of time. It is a more whimsical and artistic complication, one that is fun to get lost in as it links us with our sky-watching ancestors and a lineage of watchmakers and artisans all at once. This majestic piece brings even more beauty to the table featuring a stainless steel-18K Sedna gold case complemented by a brown ceramic bezel ring with Ceragold™ tachymeter scale, a brown sun-brushed dial, with diamond polished 18K Sedna gold indexes and hands. All this presented on complementary brown OEM leather strap with a polished-brushed foldover clasp. The casing itself is free of any major markings with the exception of one flea-bite size ding between the crown and top chronograph pusher. The exhibition case back of the watch looks as clean as the front, as does the strap and the clasp. Overall, the watch is in excellent condition and appears to have been worn sparingly.
