✅New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Distressed “Red Skies at Nite” 🌅 Size 10.5 – In-Hand and Ready to Ship Today CUSTOM MADE: “Red Skies at Nite” is a Dip-Dyed Gradient colorway, which has been hand-crafted and meticulously created after countless hours of testing different color pairings, dip times, blends of different dyes to find the perfect hues, testing different curation process times, as well as different rinses and soaking times on different pairs. We finally found the perfect combination of all of these elements, along with the perfect pair of shoes to use as our base pair. The 2002R Protection Pack has always been a favorite of ours, but the Distressed set, is just an entirely different breed and throw in the fact that this pair comes with very rare cork insoles, which you usually don't typically find in a pair of NB shoes. This pair also initially come stock with a worn, weathered and “scuffed up” look on both the shoe, midsole and the outsole- take that as the start of your “blank canvas” and you have a beautiful pair of to start off with as your “base pair” and a blank canvas to create a beautiful work of art, that is TRULY A ONE OF ONE. The beauty that the dying process adds is simply breathtaking and even the little details like the contrasting hues of the same colorways can be seen on the suede compared to the mesh paneling in the same regions of the shoe (they actually took the dye slightly differently and are very unique), which adds for additional depth to the visual effects and even more unique characteristics and stand-out details that make this pair that much more spectacular!!! Please know that YOU will be the ONLY PERSON on the PLANET with this exact pair of shoes and with this exact colorway. That is something special for a true sneakerhead to own and to wear proudly… knowing that YOU are the only one on EARTH with that pair of shoes and they'll never ever be replicated like yours! ✅DETAILS: Starting off with the 2002R – Protection Distressed Pack, I immediately knew it was the perfect pair to work with. Between the blackened and “charred” charcoal finish which marked up the midsoles and canvas uppers, down to the layout of the 2002R – Protection pack in and of itself, these were the perfect canvas to fire up another exciting project Initially, we were thinking about trying to create an hombré effect, with a four-way transition, but the “Tangerine” didn’t take too well, among the other three dye tones. So, we ended up going with a “Hyacinth” (x) “Indigo” blend for the colorway on the toebox and front portion… to a denim on the heel portion and then a mid-way transition to a lighter colorway with less dye-time, to add a bit of separation between the two darker hues. Came out beautifully and it’s more like a “Red Skies at Nite… Sailor’s Delight” sort of mood that takes the stage. Using the original stock laces, the faded white tones have the charred look once again, similar to the stock shoe, where the black markings add a bit of extra character of wear and tear, to accompany the amazing concept of what the Protection Pack was actually designed to do- represent a very raw looking and barebones shoe. The charcoal “scrapes” are also visible even through the dyes and ride heavy in the aged midsoles. One of the most unexpected touches to this shoe, are the timeless gum-sole outsoles, with an extreme twist that includes cork insoles, with upcycled padding and add an additional layer of comfort. The amount of variables in this lot are somewhat surreal and they worked beautifully as my second major project run. This set has been thoughtfully named: “Red Skies at Nite” due to the famous quote often used by Navy crews, which states “Red Skies in morning, sailors take warning. Red Skies at nite, sailors delight.” ✅SIZE: 10.5 (US Men's) = 44.5 (EU) = 9.5 (UK) ✅COLOR: Gradient transition from heel to toe- Deep Purple & Lavender (at the heel area) transitioning to a dark Red/Burgundy Wine hue (at the mid area of the pair) and then finishing off into a smooth transition to an rich Indigo Blue at the toe and front of the shoe.
