Here is a Vintage near Pristine Borsalino (1970s-1980s), “RAPALLO”, Black Fedora, size 7. This is NOT made from the Borsalino HARE (English Rabbit) but is made from Beaver (it may have a just a bit of Hare in it?, Read below).NOTE: If you look at the very last picture you can see the Borsalino Hat Carrier that we have listed now, read the description and it’s item number 226258333521. This is an optional purchase ($60 in total, if bought with this fedora, this includes the extra cost of shipping) and NOT part of this sale! You must write to us FIRST if you are interested in buying this and adding this to the sale. We discounted the hat carrier and the hat will be inside the carrier. We have stored one of my grandson’s Borsalino’s inside now for over 2 weeks before listing these hat carriers and it is perfectly shaped when removed! Just had to flip the brim down. This hat appears to have never been worn more than a handful of times and it’s perfect! Leather sweatband is perfect, NO MOTH BITES, No stains, just an excellent fedora!Thanks to one of our hat collectors for contacting us to help identify the dating on this Borsalino fedora and the material. It NOT Rabbit but made from Beaver with some mix of Hare (English Rabbit). Dad cleaned (horsehair brush) & this needed very little Steaming to make that perfect shape teardrop – pinched crown into this hat and that dip on the front brim. It’s beautiful! It’s so easy to determine what a really fine material a hat is made from when steam shaping it. Steaming this made it feel buttery soft and so easily shaped!We don’t know why it doesn’t come out consistently in all the pictures? It’s all the same color, it’s BLACK. The picture of the whole underside best reflects the actual color.When we say Hare, that refers to the English Rabbit that Borsalino uses in many of their hats. Borsalino also made many hats years ago made from Beaver. We took out dad’s collection of Borsalino hats. Their Beaver and Hare (English Rabbit) This best matches the Beaver and not Hare (English Rabbit). It’s not as soft and fuzzy as the Rabbit, nor does it have the rabbit fiber hairs that you find in the Borsalino Rabbit hats sticking out. There is a difference! One of our collectors says this has a bit of Hare mix with the beaver but not significant enough to notice other than the softness. This is very very soft and thick and so easy to work with. When you work on a hat, any felt hat, it’s is so easy to determine the material at that time. Depending on how it reacts and shapes and feels while working on it you get a very good idea what material you’re working with. This is definitely Beaver! We took out dad’s 1950s Stetson Beaver hats to compare this to: 3X, Ten, Fifteen, Twenty and TwentyFive. This was an easy match to the Beaver Fifteen. So soft and pliable and holds the shape perfectly. If can easily be reshaped if you wanted? But why? It’s perfect. Perfect teardrop crown and dip in the front brim. This is a Lightweight type fedora. NOTE: The collector who saw this listing may already bought that Borsalino hat box in the first picture but Dad has added that Bourse Cellini hat box? So if you do want the hat box please write to us. Currently shipping is WITHOUT the hat box. Shipping will be $40 if you decide to buy the hat box. That includes the price of the box and the extra shipping cost. Again you MUST write to us before buying the hat. This box is in excellent condition! Very very minor paper wear and does have its original hat holding insert set. Make a perfect storage and box to display! We actually measure the hat 3 times to determine the size, tagged or not, and it is and measures to a size 7 at 22 inch and this agrees with the Tilley Hat Sizing chart.
