Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of those tomatoes that i continue to grow out every year is FRANK’S LARGE RED. This tomato performs great! This tomato, FRANKS LARGE RED, performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. Other pictures of this tomato online, shows it to be a rather nonuniform type beefsteak, irregular in shape somewhat. Instead, I found my tomatoes were all BIG and all shaped the same. Very uniform shaped LARGE tomatoes with ribbed shoulders, slightly flattened, and yeah BIG!. This is an awesome tomato. VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety. If you are looking for the perfect tomato to complement your hamburger, you have found it. You will agree that this has a salty sweet flavor, a bit like tomato soup. Plenty of acid bite to it. Beautiful deep red color, around 1 lb each, with good production. Beefsteak type, and it does not have a lot of seeds. Very healthy plants.75-80 days, indeterminate., regular leaf plant with a high yield of 12-18 oz, pink beefsteak fruit with very good flavor, eastern Kentucky heirloom.A good sized, round red tomato.
