CLA’D & Tested Carl Zeiss Jena Tele Tessar 1:6,3 f=18cm (ca 1940) for (Kine) Exakta TRIVIA: Very rare & early Carl Zeiss compact telephoto lens produced for first generation of German 35mm SLRs (Kine) Exakta. The lens is very slow (I have used it only a small number of times while being purchased nearly 10 years ago) but is cheaper than vast majority of Zeiss’ items coming (and surviving) from the WWII era. Used material is some sort of (pretty resistant) lightweight aluminium alloy so the lens feels very easy and compact (extremely light item for an old 180mm in fact). It has fully manual iris consisting of many blades as perfectly usual back in the day.ITEM CONDITION: An item used previously, works (worked fine on digital w. adapter when I used it ca around 2015). The lens has been CLA’d by a paid technician around that time and the item condition is unchanged in 2024 as it’s been stored in a dry safe. I see no visible cleaning marks or fungus, the glasses appear great at first glance. However, as basically any antique lens, the (very basic) coating looks a little spotty during lamp test or torch test under a certain angles and one of the (glued?) rear glass is partially smidgy or hazy (which is only visible under a good light source and never had any observable impact on images). Even after full CLA, you are still buying a very old, used camera lens so old that no items are perfect or even near perfect anymore so please manage your expectations prior to purchase. IMPORTANT NOTE: Even the lamp collage of photos is not perfect here as the inner lens structure of this model is very complicated to aim the iPhone camera thru. ADAPTATION: Look for Exa/Exakta to Sony E, FX, M4/3, … adapters here on eBay (or ask for an extra one prior to purchase).Detailed pictures are part of the item description.
