Item Details Antique French Napoleon III Oak Mantel Clock, circa 1860 Offers Welcome A large antique Victorian mantel clock dating to the 19th century, circa 1860. The stepped oak clock case housing a large Sevres porcelain dial. The clock face, with exquisite hand painted decoration, features individual white cartouches housing blue hand painted Arabic numerals with outer chapter indicating minute marks. The central medallion with blue floral garlands. The whole protected by a thick bevelled glass door. The 8 day twin train mechanical movement strikes the hours and half on a gong. The backplate of the movement is stamped by one of the most renowned, important and prolific clock makers of the 19th century, Japy Freres, having won a medal of honour for this particular model of mechanism. The mechanical movement is protected by a hinged wooden door. Complete with winding key and pendulum.
