Ovation Guitar has a long history since its establishment in 1966, and continues to be supported by many musicians for its innovative style, such as using glass fiber reinforced plastic used in aircraft technology for the body back. This is a 1978 model, the successor to the Ovation 1619-4 Custom Legend, which was used by Paul McCartney on the Wings tour (1976 Paul McCartney & Wings Wings Over America & Rock Show) and the 1979 UK tour. It is a rare 1978 model that is rarely seen on the global market. In addition to original parts and no cracks, it is a collectible item in excellent condition that completely ignores the time of about half a century. As for specifications, the body top is made of high-quality sitka spruce that is a master grade that has been hand-selected. The top finish color is natural 4, and it has abalone purfling and multi-ply binding that is not too shiny. The body back is a deep bowl style made of Lyrachord, a glass fiber reinforced plastic. After 1976, all models were dark brown in color. The neck is made of 5P mahogany and maple for strength. The fingerboard is made of high-quality ebony (Deluxe Ebony in the manufacturer’s specifications) with Custom Legend 29 inlay work in genuine abalone. The fingerboard end style is also distinctive. The truss rod cover and bridge have wood carvings, stereo output, one volume and one tone control, and the brand logo on the head is a gold decal. Other features include Ovation A bracing, a luxurious sound hole rosette with an original design cover, a down belly bridge, Schaller tuners with gold and pearloid buttons, and the screws on the pegs and truss rod cover are also gold and luxurious, and the brand logo is attached inside the body. As for the sound, if you listen to it, you will be surprised to hear that it is exactly the sound of Paul on the Wings tour. First of all, even as an acoustic guitar, it emits a very large volume and comfortable sustain with a light stroke, giving you a sense of the high level of perfection of the Ovation brand. In terms of output, it also outputs a very pleasant electric sound that makes the most of the natural sound. Although it is difficult to describe in words, the mid-low range spreads a sweet and rich acoustic tone, and the high range is also brilliant and not painful to the ears, and the word enchanting sound suits it better than intense sound. Incidentally, Paul Simon is famous as an artist who loves the same 1619 model. Finally, in terms of condition, although this was made in 1978, about half a century ago, it is in excellent condition and you don’t feel that at all. As for deterioration, there are a few very small dents such as thin picking marks that can be seen when held up to the light, the gloss of the paint itself remains firm, and there is only slight weather checking. The top of the body is slightly wavy from the bridge to the bottom, but the bridge does not rise and does not interfere with playability. The battery box for the electrical system, which is common in Ovation guitars, has been replaced with a new one (made of nylon), and the cracks in the double (volume and tone) control knobs have been carefully glued and repaired, but the rest of the parts are in their original condition. There have also been no repairs to the cracks in the wood of the body, and considering the age of the guitar, it is in near mint condition and is in excellent collectable condition. The neck condition has been loosened by loosening the tension of the strings to reduce the strain on the neck, and it is currently stored with the 1st string at 15 millimeter (.59 inches) and the 6th string at 15 millimeter (.59 inches) above the 12th fret, so it is in good condition. The string height is set low, so if you feel a slight chatter when tuning regularly, there are several spare genuine shims that can be placed under the bridge, so you can adjust the string height to your liking. There is also ample room for the truss rod, the frets are not noticeably worn and are more than 80 % full, and there are no problems with the electrical system. Of course, the original brown case is included.
